Before Departure from Thailand

What happens to NBTC registration
when a foreigner leaves Thailand?

For foreign operators, NBTC registration becomes void immediately once an immigration exit stamp is issued.

It cannot be reused for future entries into Thailand.

Each new entry into Thailand requires a new NBTC registration, even if the same drone and controller are used.

Do foreign operators need to re-register NBTC
every time they return?

Yes.

Foreign operators must complete NBTC registration again for each new arrival in Thailand.

NBTC approval is tied to:

  • Immigration entry

  • Passport status

  • Active stay in Thailand

Once you leave the country, the approval is no longer valid

Does CAAT registration expire
when you leave Thailand?

No.

CAAT drone registration and pilot licensing do not automatically expire upon departure.

  • CAAT registrations are generally valid for two (2) years

  • Pilot licenses remain valid if eligibility is maintained

  • Insurance must be renewed annually to remain compliant

However, flight permission is never permanent and must always be re-requested per flight via the CAAT UAS system.

Important: Identity & Record Continuity (CAAT & NBTC)

CAAT and NBTC treat your passport number and registered email address as permanent identity records.

Once used for registration, they become your long-term verification reference across:

  • Operator records

  • Drone registration

  • Insurance linkage

  • Compliance history

These records remain on file, even after you leave Thailand.

Passport renewal or replacement

If your passport expires or is replaced:

  • You must inform and update:

    • CAAT

    • NBTC (when applicable)

Failure to update passport details may result in:

  • Account verification problems

  • Delays in future registrations

  • Rejected applications

Strong recommendation for future visits

If you plan to return to Thailand, carefully retain:

  • CAAT / NBTC login credentials

  • Registered email address

  • Previous registration documents

  • Insurance policies

  • Application and approval history

You will likely need to reuse these records for faster and smoother compliance on future trips.

This information is provided for regulatory guidance only. Final approval and enforcement remain with the relevant Thai authorities.
