14. How Can I Check No-Fly Zones Across Thailand?
All no-fly zones in Thailand are defined and published by the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) in the Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP), Section ENR 5.1, 2566 edition. These zones include areas designated with VT prefixes: VTR – Restricted or controlled areas VTD – Danger zones, such as military exercise areas VTP – Prohibited zones, often related to national security or military facilities These zones cover sensitive locations such as airports, military bases, government facilities, and other critical areas. To check current restrictions: Visit the CAAT eAIP portal: https://aip.caat.or.th Or access the ENR 5.1 section directly: https://aip.caat.or.th/2020-11-05-AIRAC/html/eAIP/VT-ENR-5.1-en-GB.html You may also use third-party airspace apps that include CAAT zone overlays, such as Altitude Angel or AirMap. However, always verify with official CAAT publications before flying. Important: To fly in any VTR, VTD, or VTP zone, you must apply for prior permission from the relevant authority (e.g., military, aviation, or security agency) and obtain final approval from CAAT. Unauthorized operations in these zones are strictly prohibited and may result in legal penalties. Always stay informed with the latest CAAT updates to ensure safe and lawful drone operations in Thailand.
